Chief Executive Officer

Cheryl Poel Bremer serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Grand Rapids Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Cheryl is native to West Michigan. Born in Grand Haven, she spent 9 years in Nigeria, West Africa with her missionary parents. She has a bachelor’s  degree from Calvin College, and an accounting degree from Davenport University.

Cheryl has been a teacher, an accountant, and for more than twenty years gained extensive experience in development and administrative positions for non-profit organizations.  She has served as a board member for numerous West Michigan non-profits.  Cheryl came to the Greater Grand Rapids Chapter in 2007 as Chief Development Officer. Following a stint as Interim CEO she was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer in 2009.
