Register for a Course

American Red Cross training programs are designed to give you the confidence to respond in an emergency situation with skills that can save a life.

The American Red Cross of Greater Grand Rapids offers training and volunteer opportunities for all ages. Whether you work with children, want training for a new or existing job, are a professional rescuer or simply want to know how to help someone in an emergency, we can help you build the skills you need.

How to register for a class

It's easy and convenient! There are several different ways you can register for a course offered through the American Red Cross of Greater Grand Rapids:

•    By calling (616) 456-8661 or 800-482-2411.
•    By stopping by our chapter office, located at 1050 Fuller NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.

Please note the following information regarding registration for Preparedness & Prevention Education Courses:

  • Payment is due at time of registration
  • Course Refund/Cancellation Policy: Class refunds can only be issued if the class is cancelled at least two business days before the scheduled date.  This includes cancellations and no-shows.  A $20.00 administrative fee will be deducted from the refund.  Enrollees who cancel a class with less than one day's notice or are a no show will not be refunded their payment.
  • If you need to reschedule a course, an additional $5.00 administration fee will be assessed.  You must reschedule at least two business days prior to your class, or within one business day after the original class date.
  • There is a $20.00 fee for all returned checks.
  • 100% attendance is mandatory for certification.

Aquatics Refund Policy

If you are unable to meet the minimum instructional requirements, you will be given one additional opportunity to enroll in another course without an administrative charge.  If, however, you are still unable to meet required skills for certification, there will be no refund allowed.

Before you register, please make yourself familiar with all prerequisite skills and your confidence to successfully perform the skills the first day of class. 100% attendance is mandatory for certification.

Weather Related Cancellations

It is rare that classes are canceled, but in the event of inclement weather, you will be notified of the cancellation by phone as soon as possible prior to the scheduled class time. Tune to WOOD-TV; WZZM13; WXMI-17; or WOOD AM & FM for information on cancellations.

Minimum Enrollments

The American Red Cross of Greater Grand Rapids bases classes on a cost recovery formula. This formula is based on a minimum of 8 students; if the minimum is not met, classes are subject to cancellation.

Lost Card Fee

There will be a $2.00 processing fee for replacement cards.
